Camp History

Lone Star Camp was purchased in 1979 from the Texas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. It is located in the beautiful pinewoods of East Texas. It consists of 278 acres, including a 25 acres lake nestled among nature’s best foliage.

Information on Property and Camp Facilities

Lone Star Camp (LSC) can accommodate up to 300 campers year-round. Housing includes rustic and modernized cabins. Camp-meetings, camp-orees, youth retreats, summer camps, and church weekend retreats are part of our regular schedule. LSC has an outdoor pavilion that seats 3,000 people, a meeting room that seats 150, and cafeteria with rustic dining beside Echo Lake. A 15,000 sq. ft. multipurpose building is being constructed with completion scheduled by June 2002. It will house a gymnasium, racquetball court, and accommodate indoor tennis, skating, table tennis, volleyball and other sports. It can seat from 2,500 to 3,000 people. RV sites Groups are welcome to lease LSC for private use.

Camp Programs and Special Features

LSC offers several weeks of summer camp. Summer specialities include horsemanship, horse trails, hiking trails, canoeing, knee-boarding, waterskiing, sail-boating, jet-skiing, pedal-boating, swimming, roller-skating, archery, horseshoes pitching, volleyball, badminton, shuffleboard, and basketball. Non-summer programming offers singles’ retreat, youth retreat, outdoor school, pathfinder camporee, and health-community service camp.

Directions to Camp

From Dallas: Take I-20 east or west (depends on your location) to Hwy 175 east to Athens. At Jed Robinson Loop, turn left, following the sign Hwy 31/FM 317/Tyler. Go to Hwy 31, turn left. Proceed 1/4 mile to FM 317 (League-ville Rd), turn right. Go six miles. LSC is on the left.

From Houston: Take I-45 north to Corsiciana, and Hwy 31 east to Athens. Turn left onto Jed Robinson Loop, following the sign Hwy 31/FM 317/Tyler. Go to Hwy 31, turn left. Proceed 1/4 mile to FM 317 (Leagueville Rd), turn right. Go six miles. LSC is on the left.

From Shreveport: Take I-20 west to Tyler. Exit Hwy 69 to Tyler. At Loop323, turn right. Go to Hwy 31 west. Turn right. Go to FM 317 east (Leagueville Rd), turn left. Go six miles, and the camp will be on the left.
